Immerse yourself into the world of the Arabic and European cultural sector, delve into the world of Tandem / Shaml.

After a year of collaboration, Arabic and European cultural managers will present their co-productions at the Center for Art and Urbanistics (ZK/U) in Berlin Moabit. With an opening reception on Friday the 14th of June at 5:30 p.m, exhibitions and performances will be presented followed by a screening of Syrian short films. On the 15th of June we want to invite you to actively participate with us in workshops and discussions while enjoying specialties of the Syrian cuisine. In conclusion to the evening, we will dance and party Dury de Bagh & Co, Jazar Crew, and with DJanes from Cairo and Berlin. We will transform the ZK/U, an old freight station in Moabit, for two days into a lively hub for the exchange of ideas and art from the Arab Region and Europe.

Opening. Join us on Friday, the 14th of June from 5:30 p.m. for the final event of Tandem / Shaml
Tandem / Shaml has brought together cultural players from Egypt, Syria & Tunisia together with partners from Germany, Latvia, Spain, the Netherlands, and Turkey in a year long journey to create joint artistic collaborations. In Berlin the results of these six coproduced projects will be presented in the form of exhibitions, performances, and film screenings and will transform the venue of ZKU into a lively hub for the exchange of art and ideas between Europe and the Arab World. At 7:30 p.m. we will serve Mezze and following will be a screening of Syrian short films.

ARTicipate! with us on Saturday the 15th of June from 2 p.m. in our neighbourhood programme with workshops, discussions, and barbecue
Share in the creative processes, dive into Graffiti activism (2:30 p.m), grasp historical Egyptian film music and experience it live (3:30 p.m), and discuss with artists, activists, and critics about the role of art, cultural activism, and civil society in times of crisis, conflict and war (5:00 p.m). Taste home-cooked Syrian food from dedicated activists contributing to the solidarity of Syrian refugees and enjoy cold drinks while exchanging and articipating with one another. All are welcome – family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues. The exhibition can be visited throughout the day until 10 p.m.

Dance with us. on Saturday, the 15th of June from 7:30 p.m.
The evening begins with the performance Now T_Here, dealing with everyday experiences under conditions of civil war in Syria. Then its time to put on your dancing shoes! The native born Baghdadian Dury de Bagh together with his band mix traditional Arabic song style (maqam) with Rumba, Gipsy and Balkan rhythm. From 10 p.m. DJ group Jazar Crew from Palestine, DJane Dina Al Ghareeb from Cairo will spin their fusion tunes together with the “Queen of Berlinistan” She-Jay Ipek who will take your senses on a flight through the night through a hybrid and eclectic mix of Middleastern, OrAsian Balkan FolkElektroFusion.
