Many Ukrainian musicians had to give up on their activities to defend Ukraine against a full-scale Russian invasion. Some volunteer and help people affected by the war, and others are on the front line. We would like to support them and give them an opportunity to express themselves. In advance of a clubnight with various extremely talented ukrainian artists, we will hold a discussion with representatives of the Ukrainian music scene and talk about how their work has changed after the start of a full-scale war. Taking part in the discussion:
◼︎ Olesia Onykiienko – Ukrainian musician, theatrical and film composer, curator of an experimental platform for women and non-binary people in Ukraine ‘Womens Sound’
◼︎ Lesyk Omodada – owner of the Shpytal Records music studio and member of the Musicians Defend Ukraine fund.
We kindly ask you to support Olesia’s work (Paypal: olesia.onykiienko[[[AT}}}gmail.com) and Musicians Defend Ukraine by making a donation.
Funded by NEUSTART KULTUR, the Initiative Musik and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) as well as by the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony. This measure is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget passed by the Saxon State Parliament.

МУЗИКА СКІНЧИЛАСЯ | MUSIC IS OVER is an event of Kultura Medialna in cooperation with objekt klein a and Netzwerk | Medien | Kunst and is supported by the program NEUSTART Kultur of the Initiative Musik and the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) and the Saxony-Ukraine Cultural Fund of the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony.
Dnipro Center for Contemporary Culture & Kultura Medialna Dnipro in
Exile« - Kulturmanager*innen in Residency Programm
gehosted von den Partnerorganisationen des Netzwerk | Medien | Kunst Dresden - CYNETART & C. Rockefeller Center for the Arts Dresden
The focus is on enabling the continued cultural work of the freelancers and artists' groups of the Dnipro Center for Contemporary Culture(DCCC) and the organisation Kultura Medljana in Dnipro (Ukraine). The DCCC operates in exile and organises individual aid programmes with partner organisations in Europe to support Ukrainian artists and cultural workers. The Network | Media | Art with its partner organisations acts together with other nodes in Europe to support the team in their further work.
Initial situation:
With the outbreak of the war, regular cultural sponsors such as the city of Dnipro or the National Cultural Foundation of Ukraine have stopped or completely cancelled their funding, as these funds are now being used for the defence of the country. The majority of projects can therefore not be carried out. The income situation has collapsed in order to guarantee a continuation of the previous work. Some of the staff and artists of the DCCC in Dnipro have left the country and some have stayed in Dnipro in order to open the newly built Cultural Centre for refugees from the region or to direct aid from non-Ukrainian countries to Dnipro. The cultural managers and artists' groups of the DCCC are already organising fundraising events in major European cities such as Budapest or Lucerne to ensure the continuation of the humanitarian work on the ground in Dnipro.
Objectives:
The aim of this funding is to enable the continued cultural work of four selected cultural workers from Dnipro in Dresden by providing infrastructures such as a workplace, guest accommodation and an honorarium. In addition, project money has been made available which they can use locally in Dresden for the implementation of their measures.
Supported by the Cultural Fund Ukraine-Saxony of the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony. Implemented by the Network | Media | Art Dresden.
